Signal planning, simplified
Practical RF planning
for the rest of us.
AetherGuide helps radio users estimate whether a signal is likely to work before they rely on it.
Enter a few simple details — frequency, distance, antenna height, and environment — and get a clear confidence estimate, plain-English explanation, and practical next steps.
- Frequency
- 462.550 MHz
- Distance
- 6.2 km
- Antenna Height
- 8 m AGL
- Environment

What AetherGuide Does
Know before you key up.
AetherGuide is a decision-support tool for radio planning. It helps users make a practical best-guess assessment when they need to understand whether a radio link is likely, questionable, or unlikely.
It does not replace professional RF engineering tools, but it gives non-experts a faster way to think through common signal planning problems.
Confidence Estimate
See a clear signal confidence result before committing to a plan.
Plain-English Explanation
Understand why distance, frequency, antenna height, and environment affect the result.
Try This Next
Get practical suggestions to improve the scenario when conditions look weak.
How It Works
Simple inputs. Clear guidance.
-
Enter the scenario
Add frequency, distance, antenna height, and environment.
-
Review the confidence
AetherGuide gives a practical confidence estimate with a red, yellow, or green result.
-
Adjust the plan
Use the explanation and recommendation to decide what to change next.
Who It's For
Built for practical radio users.
AetherGuide is designed for people who use radios in the real world but do not want to become RF engineers just to make a basic planning decision.
- GMRS / FRS users
- Amateur radio operators
- Hunters and outdoorsmen
- Overlanders and campers
- Search and Rescue volunteers
- Event and volunteer communications teams
- Preparedness-minded families
FAQ
Common questions.
Is AetherGuide a professional RF engineering tool?
No. AetherGuide is a practical decision-support tool. It is designed to help users make a better initial estimate about whether a radio signal is likely to work in a given environment. It does not replace professional RF planning software, engineering analysis, or field testing.
Does AetherGuide guarantee my radio will work?
No. Radio performance depends on many real-world factors, including terrain, buildings, weather, antenna quality, radio power, interference, vegetation, and equipment condition. AetherGuide provides a planning estimate, not a guarantee.
What information does AetherGuide use?
The MVP uses simple scenario inputs: frequency, distance, antenna height, and environment. It then provides a confidence estimate, explanation, and practical recommendation.
Who is AetherGuide for?
AetherGuide is built for practical radio users who want better guidance without needing to become RF engineers. That includes GMRS and FRS users, amateur radio operators, hunters, campers, overlanders, Search and Rescue volunteers, preparedness-minded families, and event or volunteer communications teams.
Does AetherGuide work offline?
The MVP is designed to work locally on the device. Saved scenarios are stored on the device, not in a cloud account. Some future features may require connectivity, but offline usefulness is part of the product philosophy.
Does AetherGuide track my location?
The MVP does not use background location tracking or background signal collection. Future location-based or data-enhanced features would need to be clearly explained, opt-in, and privacy-preserving.
Does AetherGuide collect or sell my data?
The MVP does not use accounts, cloud sync, telemetry, or background collection. AetherGuide's long-term data philosophy is to create value from privacy-preserving aggregated insights, not by selling raw user data.
Why does the app ask for frequency, distance, antenna height, and environment?
Those inputs help estimate whether a radio link is more or less likely to work. A low antenna, long distance, dense urban environment, or difficult terrain may reduce confidence. Better antenna height, shorter distance, or more open conditions may improve confidence.
What radios does AetherGuide support?
The MVP is radio-agnostic. It focuses on basic planning factors rather than specific device integrations. Future versions may support more detailed radio profiles, bands, equipment types, and user-tested scenarios.
When will AetherGuide be available?
AetherGuide is currently preparing for closed beta testing. Public download links will be added when beta distribution is ready.
Designed to be useful without tracking you.
The MVP stores saved scenarios locally on your device. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, no telemetry, and no background signal collection.
Future data features will be opt-in, privacy-preserving, and focused on aggregated insights — not selling raw user data.
Preparing for closed beta.
AetherGuide is currently preparing for controlled beta testing. Public download links will be added when beta distribution is ready.
For now, the focus is simple: build a practical tool, test it with real users, and improve it based on honest feedback.
